Hello all!

Our Spring Book Fair is March 14-18 and we will need volunteers to help run the register, stock shelves and help kids with book purchases! Having volunteers allows our librarian, Ms. Russell, to do her normal work with our children.

We need 1 volunteer per one-hour shift. Can you spare one hour? Surprise your child and sign up for a shift during their library time that week. Meet your child for lunch on Thursday, March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day!) – then choose a shift before or after you’ll be dining with your child. Or select any other open time slot that will work with your schedule. The Book Fair is open late on the 17th, until 7:00 pm, and we’ll need evening volunteers as well.

To sign up, click on this link: http://vols.pt/CZ12Fq. Just enter your email address, choose your time slot, and that’s it – you are done!

PTA Bylaws Amendment March 9, 2016

Proposed Modification of the PTA Bylaws

This change is being requested to smooth the transition between PTA boards from year to year. Many PTA decisions for the following academic year are made in February/March. By electing the new board members earlier, the board will be better prepared to continue operations in the new academic year.

Membership participation in PTA meetings tends to decline in May and June (the current voting months in the bylaws) allowing only a small portion of PTA membership to have a voice in electing incoming board members.

PTA President-elect should be participating in welcoming new families, which includes kindergarten orientation usually scheduled for April or May. By holding elections earlier, the PTA President-elect can be part of the transition to the new families to Timber Lane Elementary School.

The attached bylaws amendment seeks to change Article XII Section 3 of the PTA bylaws, which allows for the election of PTA board members. In accordance with the standing bylaws this notice will serve as 30 day notice for review of proposed changes. A vote will be held at the PTA meeting scheduled for April 12th.
