Curriculum Night for Rising 7th Grade Parents
Thursday, February 1, 6 to 8 p.m.
(snow date Thursday, February 8)
Curriculum Night is an opportunity for rising 7th grade parents to learn about Longfellow Middle School courses. The evening’s highlights include introductions by our principal, administrators, counselors, and PTA president, as well as curriculum overviews from core subject and math teachers, and a student-produced video on the elective classes. PTA members will be available at the front entrance to help answer parent questions.
Pizza, drinks, and baked goods provided by the PTA, as well as LMS Spirit Wear, will be available for purchase throughout the evening. Please be on the lookout for a sign-up-genius coming home soon for anyone who would like to donate baked goods for the event. Students can also earn 1 hour of community service for bringing in their homemade baked good.
Virginia PTA Sponsored Event for Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day is held to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially among children and young people across the world. Northern Virginia District PTA is excited to host one of five events across the country.
Join us Tuesday, February 6th at Luther Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road, Falls Church 22042. We will serve a complimentary dinner that will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria with the presentation at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Childcare will not be provided, but children are welcome.
Raising children in the age of smartphones and social media brings new challenges and concerns for all families. The program features expert panel members who will teach families and students about digital safety and the Smart Talk, an interactive website created by National PTA and LifeLock, a Symantec company, designed to facilitate a conversation between parents and their kids about using digital devices responsibly.
Our Panel Members include: Tammi Sisk, FCPS Information Technology Specialist; Barbara Huth, Common Sense Education, Education Program Manager; and Kevin McPeak, Symantec, Principal Cyber Architect.
Please RSVP below so we have a headcount for our dinner that starts at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. We look forward to seeing you there!
